Merja Puuperä: Paintings

The exhibition Paintings by Merja Puuperä is inspired by nature and its nuances. Puuperä’s paintings represent impressions and moods of nature and its phenomena and mental movements. Puuperä paints with oil and water colors, and colors and textures play a central role in her work.

Merja Puuperä (born in Kuopio in 1952) is a visual artist from Helsinki. She studied as a costume designer at the Lahti Institute of Industrial Arts from 1975 to 1978. She studied as a painter at Free Art School from 1990 to 1993. In the early years of her career, Puuperä designed knitting patterns and tapestries. She has worked as a painter since the mid-1990s. She is a member of the Finnish Painters’ Union, the Helsinki Artists‘ Association and the Espoo Visual Artists.
