The Helsinki Artists' Association is an organisation advancing the interests of its over 900 professional visual artist members based in Helsinki. Founded in 1967, HAA's core activities include arranging exhibitions and art lending services, international operations, and the course and education services in visual arts provided by the Art School. HAA values sustainability, communality, professionalism, diversity, glocality combining locality and internationality, and it seeks to advance the availability and accessibility of the visual arts.
The Helsinki Artists' Association offers its members versatile member services and benefits. What is more, the members of HAA are also members of the Union of Finnish Art Associations and will thus be entitled to discounts of e.g. art museum entrance fees and art supply prices, and can apply for specific exhibition programmes.
Professional visual artists and art students living in Helsinki may apply for the membership of the Helsinki Artists' Association. The application can be submitted either in Finnish or English.
The current annual membership fee is €70, and the fee for the following year is always determined in the annual meeting in December.
The application for new member artists will start on 15 September 2026
Professional visual artists living in Helsinki can apply to become members of the Helsinki Artists' Association. Applications can be submitted in Finnish or English. The application period is 15 September–31 October at 11.59pm. New members will be selected by the board of the Helsinki Artists' Association, after which information on the decision will be sent to all applicants.
There is a fee for applying. The application processing fee is €25, which is paid to the Helsinki Artists' Association account FI41 1544 3000 1992 86 (BIC: NDEAFIHH). The payment must include the reference number 2026095.

Selection criteria
- Professional visual artists and art students living in Helsinki may apply for the membership of the Helsinki Artists' Association.
- Both the works of art and the CV of the applicants are assessed, the main focus being in the quality of the works of art.
- In your CV, please highlight your education, solo exhibitions, joint exhibitions, memberships in other artists' associations, collection purchases, public works, art projects / performances / other artistic activities, positions of trust, residencies, art teaching etc.
- It is of utmost importance to attach good-quality and up-to-date photos of your works of art to the application form. Cohesion is key – please do not submit a retrospective compilation of works from the last ten years or a mixed set of different pieces, but rather a coherent selection from the last couple of years.
