Lahti Artists' Association:
Frenzy
Warmly welcome to the opening of the exhibition Frenzy by Lahti Artists' Association at HAA Gallery on Thursday, July 2nd, from 5 PM to 7 PM! The exhibition will be on display from July 3rd to July 26th.
Frenzy is passion, emotion and necessity. The exhibition presents works in which this energy is tangible through movement, material, colour or subject matter. Frenzy is both a personal and social state: a physical, mental and cultural pulse that refuses to subside.
Frenzy stems from the idea that the fire of art does not go out, even if circumstances and external factors try to dim it. The exhibition examines the frenzy of art and artistry in a time when the funding, visibility and space of culture are under constant pressure. It is a reaction, but also a response, i.e. the desire to continue, to shout, to live and to create.
We want to give value and highlight the fire and enthusiasm that lives in Lahti's visual artists despite the circumstances. At the same time, we also want to critically reflect on the idea that art is created solely from the artist's own need, without resources or encouragement. Even the greatest flame can go out if too much water is poured on it. That is why bearers of the flame of art are still needed, perhaps more than ever.
The exhibition is curated by artist Elisa Lientola.
