Mirja Ilkka: Two Lights
At an empty country lakeside. At a metropolis with dogs, babies, homeless, millionaires, protestors and statues. Lights from the East. In the midst of it all, an innocent child juggles.
Mirja Ilkka is a Helsinki-based painter whose works evolve from layers that are rubbed and scraped. The motifs in her surroundings serve as the initial inspiration for Ilkka’s paintings, but their ultimate form and meaning develop during the creative process.
