”The view in front of my eyes becomes an image, a new world” 

Timo Setälä is a Helsinki based photographer, who has has travelled the shores of the Barents Sea on his bicycle. On these tours he has photographed this fragile, but merciless arctic landscape over many years.  

However, his photos are not actually about the landscape. They are about the image itself, about the things that make an image. In these works his material has been the Arctic landscape, but he could have just as well placed his lens in front of something else. 

Setälä has collected the material for these works during his journeys in the Arctic between 2019 and 2023.  

Please take note, there is a unique opportunity to meet the artist in person at the gallery on Sunday, the 5th of November, between the hours of 2 and 4 PM!
